Control Arms
The control arms of your Mercedes connect the suspension to your frame. They are connected to the frame of your vehicle with components called brushings. From there they attach to your suspension through the ball joint. Riding in your vehicle would be extremely bumpy and uncomfortable without a suspension system in place helping to keep your frame stable. Control arms are a part of this system, and they are attached to ball joints that help your wheels to turn. There can be between two and four control arms, depending on if you have both upper and lower. When and if the control arm of your vehicle becomes damaged although it is not extremely dangerous, it can still hamper your driving. It can cause a shimmy in your wheel as well as vibrations. Overtime, the control arm can become worn or bent. Replacing it will give you a smoother drive. Vibrations, clunking noises, uneven tire wear, and steering wandering are the basic signs to look for when thinking about replacing your control arm.
